I've been trying to get rock box for my sansa e 250. I believe it should work on it, but I can't figure out how to get it installed and running. Any help on this subject would be greatly apreciated.

Hi, rockbox.org has a guide on that. you need to extract the rockbox.zip to your players main directory, then install the bootloader.

Yes, but the only thing about the Rockbox for the Sansa is that it doesn't and I repeat does not! Work with the Sansa E250 R(wrapsodey models). The reason why it doesn't work on the R modiles is because it has different hardware and I think firmware as well. But if you need help installing theRockbox firmware and the bootloader, let me know. Note: when I had installed it on my old Sansa (not the R model), I could never get the speech to work. I think that they may have fixed that as well.

Oh one more thing that I have forgotten is that they are trying to make the rockbox firmware to work on the Sansa E250 R models ;from what the developers were saying, this could take quite a while to figure out.

The only problem Im having is, that it says you have to change a mode on the usb. I've never heard of this. So, I don't know how to do that. So, I can't extract it to the sansa. HOw do I change that setting?

birdy, did you get the .voice file and make sure the setting was turned on? Not sure, silver lightning, never heard of that mode either.

This mode that your talking about is probably I think MSC mode. To change it to this mode, go to Settings? USB mode? MSC? Then click onthat nd you should be set to go.
